International Conference on Landscape Architecture Education and Studio Pedagogy Held at UTCAN

The international conference aimed to explore landscape architecture education and pedagogy today and show regional differences, and highlight the need for international dialogue to benefit the discipline. Furthermore, the rise of digital tools, such as GIS, AI, 3D modelling and rendering tools appropriate for landscape equip education and research with possibilities never seen before to foster architecture education and encourage innovation and collaboration across borders.
Institutional and regional perspectives on landscape architecture education were discussed in the first session of the symposium with presenters from ETH Zurich, National University of Singapore, Nürtingen-Geislingen University, Florida International University and Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). Landscape architecture studio pedagogy ideas were argued in the second session with speakers from Chinese Culture University, Ankara University, Fu Jen Catholic University, King Abdulaziz University, Universidad Autonoma de Mexico and University of Tehran. Key findings of designing landscape architectural education research and the International Federation of Landscape architects (IFLA) Global Studio Program (GSP) were elaborated in the roundtable discussion and Q&A after each session.
The International Conference on Landscape Architecture Education and Studio Pedagogy was organized by IFLA Education and Academic Affairs (EAA) Committee and Student Competition Working Group Chair.
The conference also included a ceremony to acknowledge the winning team from University of Tehran for the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Award of Excellence in Student Collaboration Category, an Honor Award winner team of Iranian students of Harvard University and a keynote lecture by an Iranian professional landscape award winner about his outstanding projects and life-time achievements.
